From the Vineyards to the Mountains we ride across beautiful France.
The trip is overflowing with the best things that France has to
offer. Sensational scenery, culture and food are everywhere
as you cycle on some of the quietest roads in Europe.
We roll out of Bordeaux
and finish at the cycling mecca of Alpe d'Huez.
Along the way: The valleys of the Dordogne and the
Lot with their castles. The rolling, wild beauty of the
Cevennes. The history in Provence,
Orange and Avignon. For those who love the hills - an optional side trip
to ride up Mont Ventoux.

The timing of our Bordeaux-Alps ride makes it possible
to see the Tour de France in the mountains by staying-on a few days.
We provide an extension to the standard holiday to assist people with
watching stages of Le Tour. The time in the Alps waiting for the Pros
can be spent either relaxing in the mountains or challenging yourself
by trying to ride some of the nearby climbs made famous by the Tour
over the years - last year we rode the Col du Galibier,
Glandon and Croix de Fer and got a few more chances
to ride Alpe d'Huez.
The individual time trial on Alpe d'Huez this year is close to our
accommodation. So is the subsequent mountain stage. As a
minimum we will see these two stages from a roadside
vantage point and possibly more as planning evolves.
The Tour de France extension to the Bordeaux-Alps
ride is based on comfortable, twin-share, ski chalet
accommodation.

This is intended as a ride for everyone. Most days we will
have two choices of route. A shorter, easier route of around
50kms (30 miles) plus a longer, more challenging one. The two
routes will generally converge at our suggested lunch spot.
In a region famous for it's food, wine and scenery it
shouldn't be hard to have plenty of fun. The choices of distance
should make this a ride that is within the reach of both newer and
experienced cycling tourists. Come along and see what a Wide
Open Road holiday is all about.

This is our most challenging ride moving from climb to climb between the two oceans.
There are shorter daily distances than our other rides but
plenty of altitude to be gained and lost every day. If you enjoy the hills
this is the ride for you. Mountain Madness.
